What makes a good film?
This is where the 3 act structure comes in.
BEGINNING, MIDDLE, END
Whether you are working on long form content or even short form content, your efforts should always be focused on creating the three act structure. This a simplified explanation of the concept but overall look for it everywhere. If the structure of anything you are trying to accomplish wether it be a 15 sec commercial or a 90 min feature film should have this basic structure in order to work.
Show the ordinary world of your protagonist or theme. Introduce the inciting incident that dirsupts it, and make the stakes clear and compelling should your protagonist fail.
The conflict grows ever deeper and broader, and the inital response by the protagonist proves inadequate.
Resolve the problem. Events reach their invevitable climax and resolution.
